July Newsletter – A Message From Brenda
While incarcerated I never realized the time, effort and complete commitment that had been put into the making of Sin By Silence. After the dust began to settle from my initial release, Olivia asked me if I would be willing to work with her to help put an actual face to the project and speak after screenings. You can’t begin to imagine the overwhelming feelings that flooded over me with this offer. I was both touched to the core of my spirit, and scared that I could not do this project justice as it was so powerful on it’s own. Yet, there was no question that I had to become more than just a person featured in the film, but also work along with the team to help educate people across the country to not make the same tragic choices I made.
It has been said, “It takes a village to raise a family.” Each of you who have contributed to this project whether it was financially, emotionally, etc. are what I call rare gems. People who care enough to listen, and even more importantly, make a difference not only in the lives of my sisters I left behind prison walls but the countless people that have already been moved byseeing the film. Thank you for making my dream come true – I am a free woman who can still make a difference!
All of you have given so generously of yourselves to Sin by Silence, and without that this project never would be able to make the incredible difference that it is making. It’s amazing how at each and every screening I’m constantly reminded just how vital this project truly is….just watch the film and tell me you have not been touched and, more importantly, been CHANGED!
I humbly say thank you to each and every one of you. I am sincerely grateful to you all for giving my voice the opportunity to be heard!
